The Domain Name System (DNS) is a system that stores information about host names and domain names in a distributed database. Most importantly, it is used for mapping between IP addresses and host names, and lists the mail exchange servers accepting e-mail for a certain domain.

Nowadays DNS is a vital service for the Internet. It is used by virtually all IP-based distributed applications. Therefore DNS became quite popular as target for Denial-of-Service attacks during the last years. Furthermore it can be abused to gain access to foreign hosts or to make people type in passwords and credit card information on hostile web sites.

SEDNS is a system that is focussing all current threats that come along with the usage of DNS. If you want to know more, use this link.
